We have systems with nvidia cards at our office. Installing nvidia drivers was always troublesome, actually not installing, finding the correct version. A friend of mine told me about envyng, which is a great tool to manage nVidia/ATI graphics drivers. It has separate components for gtk and qt. For some reason i never could get it working on gtk, had to use commandline always, but on qt e.g. KDE it looks great.
Try it:
apt-get install enyng-core
and then depending on your desktop environment:
apt-get install envyng-gtk
(that was for gnome)
apt-get install envyng-qt
I usually run it like envyng -t
as i use gnome. For KDE, i am quite sure that you get a new application in the menu.
